During the 17th and 18th centuries, Egham served as a significant stop for coaching routes between London and numerous western destinations. While the construction of the Western and South Western Railways diminished its importance, the town’s growth persisted for many years, fueled by the expanding population of both London and the wider country. Egham station was established in 1856 as part of the Waterloo to Reading line, and it continues to offer services today under the management of South Western Railway. Egham is located to the west of the M25 motorway and can be accessed via junction 13. The campus of Royal Holloway, University of London, which is situated close to Englefield Green, is approximately one mile west of Egham town centre.
